About House with No Steps
The 2017 For Fitness Sake challenge supports early intervention programs to help children with a disability. These programs are run by House with No Steps.
Who we are
As one of Australia's leading disability service providers, House with No Steps is dedicated to giving people with a disability greater choice, control, and freedom – empowering them to live life on their own terms across NSW, QLD, and the ACT.
Established in 1962 by Lionel Watts, CMG, MBE, House with No Steps has been supporting people with a disability for over 50 years. The disability sector has changed a lot in this time, but our focus has remained the same: enabling people with a disability to realise their personal aspirations and goals. In our eyes, having a disability should never limit the degree of choice and control people have over their own lives – so we work hard to make sure the people we support get a fair go.
There’s a world of opportunities and experiences out there, and we’re here to help people with a disability make the most of it. We’re in a great position to support people in realising their dreams, whether that means moving out of home, finding a job they love, or becoming active members of the community.
To create opportunities for people to make the most of their abilities.
Our Mission statement is a great summary of our purpose and the work that we do. It highlights our positive focus on ability and achievement and makes it clear that our role is to treat all people as respected equals by providing the support that they need to succeed in their own right.
Our five Values reflect our most deeply held beliefs. They shape the way we approach our work, our interactions with service users, families and carers, the design of new disability services, the positive relationships that we build with external stakeholders, our advocacy for the rights of people with a disability and our engagement with local communities.
