FAQs

1. When is For Fitness Sake?

For Fitness Sake runs from 1st to 10th March 2017 (inclusive) so you have 10 days in which you can log your kilometres and reach your goal. You can fundraise as soon as you register and your fundraising page will remain live until 1st April 2017.

2. How do I log my kilometres?

Log your KMs using the MapMyFitness app, Strava app or your Fitbit so you can automatically tally your KMs on your page. Alternatively, use your own smartphone app or pedometer and add your KMs manually to your tally.

Click here to view detailed instructions on how to connect your fitness app or log your KMs manually.

Fitbit: You must 'start' an activity and save it. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.

MapMyFitness/Strava: You must 'start' your workout, 'stop' your workout and then 'SAVE' your workout.

Your tally will be updated each morning with the previous day's KMs.

If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log in and re-connect it.

3. What does the Early Intervention Services in House with No Steps do?

The House with No Steps Early Intervention services support children aged 0 – 8 years old with a broad range of disabilities and developmental delays including:

  •  Down syndrome
  •  Autism
  •  Cerebral palsy
  •  Intellectual disabilities
  •  Hearing loss
  •  Brain trauma and encephalitis

Early childhood intervention services work with families and children to provide services which improve the child's development and well-being. This includes speech pathology, special education, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

This can help children develop skills in communication, social relationships, play and functional behaviours. It can also help them to be more independent, adapt to their environment and prepare for child care, kindergarten and school. Find out more information about us here.

4. Is there a minimum fundraising target?

We are asking participants to try to raise at least $250 through their challenge to help children with a disability realise their dreams – to support their development, well-being and community participation.

We are here to support you and help you reach your goals. Remember, people are always keen to contribute towards a good cause…all you have to do is ask! Check out our fundraising tips for some easy fundraising ideas.

5. Can people overseas take part too?

Of course! The more the merrier. You can log your kilometres anywhere in the world. Unfortunately you will not be eligible to go in the draw to win a Fitbit, but you can still enter your kilometres onto your fundraising page manually or through your smartphone. Make sure you post pictures on social media using the hashtag #ForFitnessSake!

6. What activities count towards my target?

Any and all of them!

You can log your kilometres anywhere you like, as long as you do so legally! Swimming, paddling, running or walking around the block or to work – it ALL counts. The challenge is to get moving and raise funds to help people with a disability.

You can choose to walk/run on the road OR on the treadmill. You can go for a ride in the great outdoors or reach your targets on a stationary bike. Whatever method suits your lifestyle and works best within your schedule.

Just make sure you enter your kilometres onto your profile page so your friends and family can keep track of your progress.

7. How do I create/join a team?

Working out is way more fun with your friends! To learn how to create or join a team, and invite people to join your team, check out our Teams page for step by step instructions.

8. Why isn’t the Map My Fitness app working?

If you are having issues with the KMs syncing to your page, read our information here.

If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log in and re-connect it.

GPS: Ensure that you have turned on your phone’s GPS in order to record your kilometres. Here’s a handy guide on how to enable your phone’s GPS on iPhone and on Android. NB: make sure your phone’s GPS isn’t disabled for specific apps.

Interference from other apps: If your app still isn’t recording your kilometres, try running only the MapMyFitness app, as running multiple apps to compare the measurements can cause the algorithms to interfere with one another. If you want to use another app, just manually log your kilometres onto your page.

9. How do I get my official For Fitness Sake t-shirt?

The first 600 people to raise $100 to support people with a disability will receive an exclusive For Fitness Sake t-shirt to wear throughout the challenge. Once you reach $100, we will get in touch with you to check your size and arrange to post your t-shirt out to you immediately.

Unfortunately the t-shirt isn’t available to buy.

10. Are donations tax deductible?

Yes. All donations over $2 are tax deductible for residents of Australia for tax purposes and a receipt is emailed to you immediately after you make the donation.
